Douglas Abran, 76, of Waimea, Kauai, formerly of Honokaa, died Aug. 8 at home. Born in Haina, he was a liliko tractor operator and factory mechanic for the former Hamakua Sugar Co., retired from the Kauai Lagoons Golf Course, was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran with the 101st Airborne Division, earning Bronze Star and Army Commendation medals for heroism. Celebration of life visitation 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at Westside Christian Center Church in Kekaha, Kauai. Service at 11 a.m. Big Island celebration of life visitation with military honors 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at Honokaa United Methodist Church. Service at 11 a.m. Survived by son, Dasan (Leimomi Wright) Abran of Hilo; daughter, Maelan (Bryant) Azevedo of Hilo; sisters, Frances Alpiche and Suzanne Tamashiro of Honokaa, Virginia Kaneao of Waikoloa, Shirley Kirkwood of Illinois, Dolores Sharp of Washington and Attie (Randal) Millare of Kona; brother, Ronald (Val) Abran of Kapulena; a grandson; nieces, nephews and cousins. Vincent “Vinny” Senichi Okimoto Chang, 27, of Kealakekua died Aug. 15 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, he was an aquaculture technician for Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe at OTEC, member of Konawaena High School Class of 2013, Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, Akitsu Kumiai, Kona Boyz 4-H Club, ulua fisherman and community volunteer and supporter of several community organizations. Celebration of life 10 a.m. Monday (Sept. 4) at Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple in Kealakekua. Casual attire. Survived by mother, Claudia Chang of Kealakekua; brothers, Jacob (Abby) Chang of Aiea, Oahu, and Beau Chang of Kealakekua; two nephews; cousins, aunts and uncles. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Lauriette Kamakakilo Fields, 89, of Keaau died Aug. 11 at a private care home in Keaau. Born in Honolulu, she was a bartender. Private services. Survived by son, Frank (Haroldeen) Quintal of Kurtistown; two grandchildren and a great-grandson. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.
